FEBRAVA and CONBRAVA September 2007 – ASHRAE’s Presence.
1.0 – Summary.
The visit of the President Kent Peterson and the Distinguished Lecturer Carl Lawson highlight the activities of the ASHRAE members during the last Febrava and Conbrava in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Their presence was also required for the Chapter’s Brasil Dinner, the visit for the Escola Politécnica da Universidade São Paulo and a meeting with the members of the Brazilian Green Building Council.
They had a very busy week with majors results for ASHRAE and Chapter Brasil, this report is a summary of the main activities from September 18th to 22nd, 2007.
2.0 – Febrava.
The Febrava is the one of the largest HVAC&R Trade Fair, this was the 15th International Refrigeration, Air-Conditioning, Ventilation, Heating and Air Treatment Trade Fair. The first Febrava happened in 1979 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
In 2007 it occupy an 34.000 m2 (368.000 ft2), with 548 exhibitors from 22 countries. The number of visitors was 26.708, from 37 others countries there was 494 visitors.

The
first Conbrava happened in 1987.
Mr Kent Peterson invited by the ABRAVA’s President João Roberto Minozzo was present at the Opening Ceremony.

3.0 – Conbrava.
The
10th Conbrava – Brazilian Congress on Refrigeration, Air
Conditioning, Ventilation, Heating and Air Treatment took place during September
19th to 21st, 2007 with the slogan “Improve to preserve” (Aperfeiçoar
para preservar). The number of registered persons achieve 400 and the number of
speeches 32.

Others members of the Chapter Brasil were present during the 10th Conbrava:
4.0 – Chapter Night.
Chapter Brasil had it’s best Chapters Night with the presence of Kent Peterson and Carl Lawson. The Chapter Night had the presence of 43 persons, that we would like to highlight:

had many pleasant activities during the Chapter Night on September 19th,
2007 at the Restaurant Die Meister Stube in Sao Paulo:

5.0 – Green Building Council Brasil.
On Friday morning September 21st, 2007, Kent Peterson and Carl Lawson were invited by the Board of Directors of Green Building Brasil for a meeting to exchange ideas how ASHRAE and GBCB will be able to work together to improve the sustainability in building construction for Brazil.
ASHRAE and GBCBrasil will work together to develop a MOU a Memorandum of Understanding.
6.0 – Escola Politécnica da Universidade São Paulo.
The last activity for Friday was a meeting at the Polytechnical School at Sao Paulo University. Kent Peterson and Carl Lawson were invited for a visit and make at a short presentations for teachers and students. The Chapter Brasil President Antonio Luis Mariani is a teacher for Fluid Mechanics.

7.0 – Sight Seeing.

Kent Peterson returned on Friday night, but carl Lawson and his spouse Joanne had a pleasant Saturday. Duílio Terzi from Chapter Brasil took them for a sight seeing trough Sao Paulo, starting at “Pátio do Colégio” College Courtyard where the city was founded in January 25, 1554.
8.0 – Gratefulness.
It is very important to thanks people from ASHRAE Region 12 Rob Risley, Dick Worth and Ross Montgomery for their support to Chapter Brasil, Kent Peterson and Carl Lawson for coming to Brazil and support of Abrava in this very important event for HVAC&R in Brazil. This visit is a milestone for the Chapter Brasil, gave to us another opportunity to be back on track, providing our members with helpful and productivity activities that show it worth to be an ASHRAE and Chapter Brasil Member.
